University of Michigan Medical School

Christina was born in Michigan but grew up moving around the US from Michigan to North Carolina and then to New York City. She spent her high schools years down-under in Sydney, Australia. She stayed in the Northeast to attend Brown University where she received her bachelor’s degree in Human Biology with a focus on health disparities. While there, she co-founded Brown University’s chapter of Global Medical Brigades, leading two medical service trips to Honduras, igniting a passion to better understand health disparities both globally and domestically.

After graduating, Christina returned to Michigan, where she worked as a research coordinator for an FDA regulated cardio vascular device trial at the University of Michigan Hospital. There she gained exposure to the multiple players within the healthcare system, and the challenges that patients face when navigating its complexities. She continued on her medical journey by attending the University of Michigan Medical School. During her time in medical school, she further explored her passion for health disparities by completing the Global Health and Disparities Path of Excellence. Through this program, Christina worked with her local community and co-founded MiHealth, an educational initiative partnering medical students with local underserved high school students. This initiative aimed to improve adolescent health education by developing engaging near peer-to-peer health lessons provided by the medical students.

Christina decided to also pursue an MBA at the University of Michigan’s Stephen M Ross School of Business to learn about how to generate impactful, systematic changes in the healthcare system by better understanding the structural challenges it faces. She hopes that with these tools she can make the healthcare system more effective and efficient, as well as decrease obstacles that prevent access for underserved populations. She is thrilled to bring these interests and passions to the Med-Peds family at Jackson and is excited to explore her new home in Miami. In her free time you can find Christina spending time outside in the sun, wake surfing, exploring the many places to eat in Miami, and most importantly cheering on her Michigan Wolverines on football Saturdays in her Maize and Blue gear! Go Blue!
